Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a powerful brain-based therapy that can help you make deep and long lasting change. By utilizing focused mindfulness and the power of an attuned therapeutic relationship, Brainspotting can help release trauma, negative beliefs, somatic (body based) issues, and more.
Have you noticed that when you’re reflecting deeply your eyes tend to fixate on one spot? Based on the idea that “where you look affects how you feel,” Brainspotting utilizes this discovery along with bilateral music to help facilitate deep brain processing. While most talk therapy engages the neocortex, the most evolved area of our brains that is the seat of our cognitive processes, Brainspotting accesses the subcortex, the seat of emotional regulation, trauma storage, and the fight/flight/freeze response. As many us seek therapy due to difficulty with strong emotions, a dysregulated nervous system, and/or trauma triggering, it is important to access and get healing in the subcortex to have meaningful change. Brainspotting can help.
I have found Brainspotting to be a powerful but gentle treatment. Some clients have large physical or emotional releases, and some clients process more quietly or slowly. What is beautiful about Brainspotting is that we trust your natural healing process. We work together to attune to your brain and nervous system’s unique process for healing, and to facilitate a safe environment where healing can occur.
